Please look over the opportunities listed below to see where you might best serve. Thank you!

Urgent Need for Food Drives!

Parenting Skills Class Coordinator: “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God would be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” Volunteer prospects are being sought to conduct weekly parenting classes for the men in the New Life Program. Curriculum and all materials are provided. Volunteers use the Active Christian Parenting course. Married couples with children who have experience in facilitation are preferred. Tutors are needed to assist clients in achieving their G.E.D. and assist with college-prep instruction. Math, Literature, Science, and Social Studies are part of curriculum with emphasis on reading comprehension and math (Math I and II, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry). The program is designed to be a low-maintenance software driven program requiring minimum help from tutors except for answering questions. Tutoring sessions can be done in individual or group sessions. Hours are flexible, 2- 3 hours per week with on-call possibilities.

Transportation Volunteers: Volunteers are needed to transport clients to and from doctor’s appointments, job interviews, etc. during normal business hours.

Support Office, Tustin
Warehouse Projects: Won’t you put your hands on them as Jesus did? “And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.” While we are not able to personally touch every hurting man, woman, and child in Orange County, using our hands, we can put the hands of Jesus Christ upon their lives by helping with a warehouse sort. We are currently seeking volunteer groups for sorting food, clothing, toys, hygiene kits, and compiling food boxes. This is an event specific opportunity with flexible days and hours.

Office Support: Assist with various projects in the Support & Outreach Offices such as typing, filing, mailings and answering phones.

Child Development Center Helper: "Whoever receives one of these little children in my name receives Me; and whoever receives Me, receives not Me but Him who sent Me." Child Development Center Helpers are needed to provide supervision and care to the children at the House of Hope, while ministering the love of Jesus Christ, so that the Mothers are able to attend classes. Volunteers serve on any day of the week, Monday thru Friday, between the hours of 7:30am to 4:00pm, for 2 hours at a time. Consistency is a must. Fingerprinting is required.

Children’s Tutor: The Children’s Tutor provides supervision, instruction in reading, writing and arithmetic, and assists children with various homework assignments as needed, while encouraging children to exercise good study habits and ministering the love of Jesus Christ. Fingerprinting is required. Volunteers serve any afternoon, Monday through Friday, from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm. A three month commitment is required. This service reports to the Parenting & Child Development Supervisor.

Adult Tutor: The Adult Tutor provides instruction primarily in math (algebra and geometry), assists mothers in attaining their high school graduation equivalency diplomas (G.E.D.), while ministering the love of Jesus Christ. Fingerprinting and a three month commitment are required. Volunteers serve any day, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, or 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. This service reports to the House of Hope Facilities Manager or House of Hope Chaplain on duty.

Vacation Bible School: Church groups are needed who would be willing to select a week during summer vacation, Christmas vacation, or Easter break, to organize and run a VBS type event for the children. Time is flexible. There are several weeks to choose from during the summer, aside from summer school, so there are lots of opportunities! VBS will report to the Parenting and Child Development Supervisor at the House of Hope.

Hope Family Housing, Orange
Summer BBQ Meal Service: What a fun way for your group to serve the families in our transitional living facility! Your group would be responsible for providing, preparing, serving and clean-up of a dinner meal on a Saturday from appx. 4:00pm-7:00pm. You could even throw in some game time or a water balloon fight! Use your imagination...

Village of Hope, Tustin
Licensed Electricians, Plumbers & Carpenters: There is an immediate need for both individuals and companies who can assist us with ongoing projects. This is a great way to help move The Village of Hope along to completion. Once completed, the Village will provide transitional housing for 192 homeless men, women and children.

Maintenance & Clean-up: Various projects are available at our up-and-coming Village of Hope. This is a great opportunity for school, business, community and church groups of 10 or more to help move The Village along to completion. Times and days for these projects will vary and can be coordinated through the Volunteer Manager. All volunteers must be over the age of 13. Plan on getting dirty.

Painting Projects
Great team building activity! We are in need of groups and individuals to help with painting projects at our various facilities. This can include: cleaning, prepping, painting and clean-up. The commitment can be one-time only or we can place you and/or your group on a list and contact you as these projects become available. Because we have a very limited maintenance staff, this help is invaluable!

Hi, fellow CSUF Grads and Students:

I'm Melvin, Graduated way back in 1982 with a B.A. in Philosophy, but still write the school every now and then, and still hope to donate to the Philosophy Department if I can ever get my own financial house in order.

Being from the Bay Area, I so rarely get to meet people with a past in Orange County. Most Bay Area folks aren't even familiar with life behind the Orange Curtain.

Hope to hear from any OC folks from North OC.

Truly,

Melvin.
